DWDM

WDM or Wave Division Multiplexing has two international standards, including DWDM, Dense Wave Division Multiplexing. Dense gives little space between the waves or, as they are often called, channels. DWDM is often used in situations where more than 16 channels are required and / or distances of more than 80 km. Opticonnect offers a range of passive DWDM multiplexers.

DWDM
Dense Wave Division Multiplexing (DWDM), is a technique to transport 192 independent connections over a fiber pair. Use is made here of different wavelengths that consist of different colors or channels. Opticonnects DWDM multiplexers are available in all wavelengths established in the ITU grid. DWDM is usually used for solutions where more than 16 channels are required and / or distances of more than 80 km need to be bridged. Opticonnect offers a series of passive DWDM multiplexers with the wavelengths from 1528.77 nm to 1563.86 nm with a channel distance of 0.8 nm (100 Ghz).

OADM

Opticonnect has chosen to provide most of the passive WDM solutions as OADM. Optical Add and Drop Multiplexers make it possible to tap one or more channels from a multiplexed CWDM connection. This makes it possible to direct a certain data for another department, office or data center to the OADM’s location, without the need of interfacing all data streams on the link. OADM’s are available as Single sided, meaning in and out in the same direction or dual sided, meaning in and out both directions of the fiber.
